Unusual Wedding Gifts Ideas

Have you ever had problems buying gifts for wedding? I am sure thar you have. People always try to out do each other buy buying unusual wedding gifts. I don’t blame them to be honest. I would want mine to be something to remember.

I have been looking for unusual wedding gifts for my sister as her wedding is coming up soon. I haven't found anything so far.

I think the 'cuckoo clock' is by far the most unusual of all the unusual wedding gifts I have seen. I can't believe that someone would actaully want to receive a cuckoo clock for their wedding.

I don’t know if I am going down the right road in searching for unusual wedding gifts. Perhaps there is something that would make more sense in the long run. It is difficult though because they haven’t produced one of those gift lists where you have the opportunity to select gifts of a list. I think I will need to be a bit creative.

I have discussed it will my girlfriend and she wants to buy something that is more traditional. I understand up to a point but the thing is they already live together. This causes a problem because you don’t want to buy something that they already have.

No doubt she will be receiving lots of personalized gifts. But there are only so many things that you want your name on. I would feel a little uncomfortable having my name on my toaster. I will leave those gifts up to the other guests at the wedding.

This is just my opinion but I think that personalized gifts lack imagination. That is not something that I want. Maybe I should just go to a shop that offer a variety of stuff and just get her a couple of things. Maybe a garden centre?

Now that I mention it a garden centre does sound like a good idea. It is something that offers lots of different things and no one else would think about going there. There are sure to be lots of unusual wedding gifts there.

I know people say that it is the thought that counts and as you can see I am putting a lot of thought in. I do hope she likes what I buy her.

Butterfly Release Enhances Your Wedding Day

A very popular activity for today's weddings is to have a butterfly release at your wedding. A Native American legend is that when one is caught and a wish is whispered to it, when released the Great Spirit will grant that wish. There are several butterfly farms that can provide you these beautiful creatures at your wedding.

There are thousands of species of butterflies so how do you choose? A very popular type chosen is the beautiful monarch. They are a good size and are therefore easy to see. They are sociable and will delight and entertain guests as they flit gracefully about the venue.

The Painted Lady butterfly is another popular species. They are beautifully marked with mauve, gold and black. They are also friendly and curious. Finally the Swallowtail is also a fashionable species for a bridal theme. They are stunning and as as elegant and as inquisitive as the other species.

Butterflies can be positioned on the bride's bouquet or the wedding dress for photographs. Butterflies are cold-blooded so if put in a cooler for 15-20 minutes prior to the service their responses will slow and but they will become active again in less than a minute so take your pictures quickly.

There are several methods that the bridal couple can choose for releasing these creatures; one is the release cage which allows them to be freed quickly by separating the ribbons at the top to open the enclosure. This style enclosure can hold 96 beautiful butterflies.

A second style is boxes in small, medium and large holding one to four dozen respectively. When the tops are unfastened the butterflies are released simultaneously.

A final style is a larger basket covered with beautiful white netting complete with appropriate delicate-lace appliqués throughout. These baskets come in three different sizes and can hold four, five, or eight dozen butterflies.

A butterfly release at your wedding will leave guests with a cherished, lasting memory of an amazing Butterfly Wedding.

Beware of these pitfalls. They apply equally to free dating web sites and to those that provide a free trial but do not require payment information during the trial period:

  1. Scammers - Scammers from Nigeria, Malaysia, and a dozen other countries are notorious for scouring the web looking for free membership-based sites. They especially prey on dating sites. They create a fake profile often using a real photo of an attractive person. Many times, they steal photos and profiles from other dating sites - so they look extremely authentic. It won't take them long to ask for your email address - which they'll use to steal your identity or to outright scam you for money.
  2. Predators. Free sites only ask for an email address and not a credit card. Many don't ask for verification that the email address is real.  Without requiring a credit card, there's no name/address verification and tracking taking place. This makes them highly attractive to criminals, sexual predators and others with less-than-honest intentions. High quality, safe dating sites are able to provide law enforcement officials with the person's name and address if necessary. Since the scammers and predators know this, they steer clear of paid sites and stick with the free sites.
  3. Free dating sites attract those who are too broke (or too cheap) to pay a few dollars a month. If they can't afford a dollar a day for an opportunity to meet people, is this really someone you want to date?
  4. Since there are no credit card transactions on free sites, they attract married people who are posing as single.
  5. People who are paying for a service will generally get online and use it until they reach their objective. In this case, that means finding someone compatible. When you take away the financial aspect, the sense of urgency generally goes with it. Free web sites are full of members who haven't logged in to the site in months - perhaps years.
  6. Fake profiles. There are hundreds of free dating web sites that claim to have thousands upon thousands of members. Many times, these claims are built on fake profiles that the web owner created to give the appearance of a successful dating site. Why? -- see reason number 7.
  7. SPAM, Ads and worse! Web site owners who give away their service do so for one reason only…to make money from advertisers. They do this through advertisements on the site, through email campaigns that bombard you with advertising messages in your mailbox and by selling your email to list brokers - who then sell your email address to thousands of other web site owners. What you save in dollars ends up costing you in wasted time sorting through the onslaught of marketing messages. Is that how you really want to spend your time?

The bottom line is that very few (if any) people actually find a quality person to date using a free online dating site. If your intention is to find someone to date - perhaps even someone to spend your life with - expect to pay at least a few dollars a month to protect yourself and find quality singles on the sites you use.

Seated Wedding Reception Activity

July 29, 2010

Nothing is worse than having a wedding reception filled with seated guests who look tired and maybe a little bit bored. Maybe this wedding doesn't feature a DJ and rockin' music. Or maybe the crowd isn't into that whole dancing thing.

What to do? It's not that hard. There are a myriad of activities you can plan that will not only entertain the guests, but also help them get to know each other and - most importantly - the bride and groom just a little bit better.

Here's one that's fun and might remind you just a little bit of a football game. Make a placard for each guest. On one side, letter "Bride" and on the other, "Groom". Someone, and if you have a DJ it can be him or her, or the best man or maid of honor, asks a series of questions. They might be simple, like "who was born in New York City"? Or they might be more complicated, such as "who, at 8, has broken their leg when they were playing with their German shepherd puppy"?

Guests don't yell their answer, but rather show their placard, turning it to the "bride" side of they think the question pertains to the bride or to the "groom" side if it's the opposite. The guests' guesses can be revealing, but even more revealing, are the true answers. It's a great, fun way for everyone to get to know a little more about the bride and groom.

A word of caution regarding such wedding reception games or activities: Keep ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends out of the questions and don't ask anything that might be a little too revealing or too risky. Remember, grandmothers and grandfathers and young children will likely be present!

If it's too much work to create signs for each person, you can create just two and create two teams - a team of men and a team of women. Grouped together, the teams can work together to decide on the answer and answer as a group. This "men versus women" concept is always popular and sure to be fun for everyone.

One silly game that's always a hit really puts the groom in the spotlight. How well does he know the feel and touch of his new wife? In this game, everyone finds out. You can do this several ways. You can enlist just the wedding party in this game, or as many of the wedding guests that want to participate.

Line each participant up and blindfold the groom. Put the bride somewhere in the mix, and send the groom on a hunt for his bride. The participants can either shake the groom's hand or give him a kiss on the cheek. In some versions, he might feel their hair or their leg. The details are up to you.

Depending on how far you want to take this game, you can add a fun element to it that is sometimes popular. You have the groom feel the leg of each participant. The best man, or other male member of the wedding party, rolls up his pant leg, puts on a garter and has the groom feel that. The groom has to kiss whoever he thinks is his bride, while still blindfolded. Often, he ends up kissing a man.

For an activity that allows the guests to be audience members instead of participants, consider the game of "feed me". In this game, the bride is seated and the groom is (again) blindfolded. He's given a piece of food and then spun around a few times so he's a little bit dizzy. Guided only by the helpful words of his new bride, he has to find her and get the piece of food into her mouth. Be sure to have the wedding party shadowing him so there are no accidents.

Once the groom has fed his new wife, the tables are turned and she is blindfolded and must find him.

Some notes about these types of wedding reception games: when feeding the bride, don't use wedding cake or a piece of bread with dip. In other words, don't use anything too messy. If the groom has a hard time finding her mouth, he might smear the food on the bride's face and that is something that won't make a bride - prettily made up just hours before - too happy.

There are lots of creative wedding ideas that you can find. Make sure that you do lots of research and study so yours would be something that everyone will remember with lots of fun.
